Supernatural delight! (Riding with new groups)

It’s wonderful to have an ongoing riding “team.” One builds intimate bonds over time, not just because of the intense experiences riding, but also because of the time spent “breaking bread” together, sharing stories, and sometimes personal matters. Recon CR has a special place in my heart. Fabulous team! And, of course, the Rejuntados also do, though we rarely ride any more. (And, then there is the Honda CB 500 group and Luis Herrera’s group — all little families within the greater tribe of my Costa Rican riding “clan.”)

AND, it is quite heart-warming to be invited to ride with others! Yay!

On Saturday, I had an easy ride with my friend Roy Chang and some of his friends. I liked taking a seldom-ridden route out of La Guacima to La Garita, then the clear streets all the way up to Freddo Fresas Restaurant and then up to Poás Volcano. The weather was nice in the morning, cool and refreshing. Best of all: no cars! I suppose many folks have headed to the coasts for vacation.

It was an easy ride up and down. We came home via Vara Blanca and Carrizal, where we parted ways.

My main reason for posting about this and the next ride is because a lot of friends and loved ones (including Storm!) seem to have faded out of my life these last years and months. A part of me is in dismay and still processing the grief.

However, one thing I am coming to trust is that, well, though they cannot be replaced, new friends do come and new bonds are built. Most importantly, the riding goes on! 🙂

I am grateful to be part of this warm and welcoming motorcycling community. It is truly…free!
