With a little help from my friends. (Day #1 Coyote via Porozal and Vista Mar)

Wow. I am soooooo happy to have celebrated Sahara’s three-year birthday (on August 3rd) with a wonderful riding adventure.

On Saturday, August 5, 2023, my friends Henry and Jorge and I went on a fun trip to San Francisco de Coyote.

We took route 601, which is my favorite way to go to the La Amistad Bridge, as you perhaps know by now. It’s a lovely route through the country, tree-lined roads of Abangares.

On our way, we detoured left to go to Playa Punta Piedra.

The little road in to Playa Punta Piedra is really picturesque, and the beach is quiet and peaceful. I was glad the weather was dry. It’s fun to ride on the dikes of the ponds on the way.

As we came out to route 18, we immediately took a right. A new route for me! Loved it. (Thanks, Jorge!)

We went through Porozal and back out to route 18, coming out about two kilometers from La Amistad Bridge.

I would like to do more recon from Porozal towards Bebedero and Cañas someday, though I suspect it involves riding through cane fields.

We then went up to Vista Mar and down to Bejuco. I love this route. The second part is so wild. And it is now paved (with a few parts gravel). The last part to Bejuco is all paved.

We did not stop at any beaches on the way to San Francisco de Coyote, as I usually do. We went to town for lunch at Rios Restaurant, dropped off our bags and rested a bit, then went to Costa de Oro to El Barco Restaurant to see the sunset.

Carston and Nadia, owners of El Barco, are motorcyclists, so the guys got to share information with them.

We were gifted with a lovely sunset. Yay!! So often I long for a Pacific sunset. It was a lovely closing of a fabulous day, which was followed by yet another magical adventure! 🙂 (Next post.)
