Love the wild! (Rts 239 and 136)

I left a 12 Step convention in Manuel Antonio early today to take route 239 from Parrita to Puriscal.

The first half of the road is quite rocky, but easy to ride on because it is hard packed. I like the wildness of this road.

Then, at about K 39 from Parrita, it has recently been scraped and the road is smooth and easy. It could be that it is being prepared for paving.

Yes, the views are great.

About 21 K or so from Puriscal, the road is paved again.

Puriscal church was deemed unsafe after an earthquake.

Once in Puriscal, I went left towards Turrucares on Route 136. This road is paved, with some sections covered in fine black gravel. It does have two hairpin curves.

I liked the new tires on the fine gravel. I’ll keep these for the rainy season and change back to more off-road tires next summer.

I am so grateful to have a dual-purpose bike to ride in Costa Rica!

FEEL THE POWER!
