On Friday, February 10th our adventure continued.

After breakfast in Soda Familiar in San Francisco de Coyote, we rode up the coast towards Islita.
We first stopped at the beautiful viewpoint up top to enjoy the view, and then at the quaint and colorful plaza of Islita for refreshments.

The gravel route has a lot of rough “washboard,” and is quite dry and dusty at the moment. Because I wear contacts, I was glad I was in front rather than choking on the dust clouds. However, I think it would be best to take turns riding in front to share the challenge of riding behind. 🙂
We stopped at Carrillo beach to take in the beauty.

And wound our way long the coast to San Juanillo beach, where we had a delicious lunch.

We made it to Brasilito by 4 p.m. After unpacking, Kevin and I walked over to Conchal beach to see the sunset, one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. I was sad about the loud music, jet skis, piña coladas, and the whole loud party atmosphere. 😦 Remembering when I was first there in 1987 and there was nothing there but white and sea-shell sands and blue beauty. Paradise!
The next morning, Kevin and I rode to Las Catalinas so that he could see them, stopping at La Prieta beaach viewpoint on our way. Another incredibly beautiufl viewpoint! Wow.

We met up with the group at the entrance to Tempate road, then headed there and beyond. Nice typical road! 🙂 Mostly flat, with one up and down hill, and one easy river to cross. It was such a joy to ride along such classic Guanacaste scenery.

We parted ways at Belen. Gaby & Adrian and Kevin headed to Liberia and Roy, Juan Carlos and I headed over to the Tempisque bridge, stopping for lunch along the way and heading home via route 601.

I am grateful to Kevin Santamaria for the extra trips we took together, for I love soaking in as much riding beauty and pleasure as I can. I had a lot of fun riding with him. 🙂 Yay!

Another fulfilling and joyful adventure along the sun-filled NW coast of Costa Rica, with a wonderul group of friends! Such a blessing to be alive and
