Ain’t nothin’ like the real thing, baby. (Corralillo-Tabarca 228-209)

Nothing like waking up after a hard night’s rain to find the skies are blue, the air is clean and clear, and the distant mountains call your name! Yes! One of the gifts of the rainy season is that the rains wash out all the smog, dust, and haze. You can get several hours of riding time before the afternoon rains start.

Gorgeous country. Route 228.

Today, May 30th, 2018, I headed over to Corralillo from El Tejar de Guarco (Cartago), then Tabarca-Ciudad Colon. I simply cannot believe the awesome views one so often enjoys in Costa Rica. Superb! (Route 228 to 222 to 209 to 239.) As this area is across the valley from where I live, I do not know it too well (though I have been through there once or twice). Thus, it’s like seeing it for the first time. I just love the wide views. I highly recommend this ride on a clear day.

You can see the road on the far right.

These are curvy roads, often hugged by trees.

There were a lot of  rock and landslides, especially between Palmichal and on Route 239 to Ciudad Colon, even though the rainy season has only just started. Wise to keep this in mind.

Photos don’t do Costa Rica justice.  Song: Ain’t nothin’ like the real thing, baby.

Feel the beauty. Know the love. Live the power.
