Every two or three weeks, on Saturday morning, I go feed apples to some donkeys in Belen.
I think they are so cute.
“What does this have to do with riding in Costa Rica?” you ask. ๐ Well, if I didn’t have a motorcycle, which makes traveling in Costa Rica manageable, easy, and fun, I probably would not go out of my way to feed them. (Plus, I might as well have a blog page for them, to which I can sometimes add photos.)

I have seen the mamas be pregnant, then have little ones. One of the little ones finally learned to eat apples from me.
Sometimes there are horses and cows in there as well.
Today I was especially pleased that one hung around with me after the apples were gone. ๐ I scratched it behind its ears and on its neck a bit. She won my heart!

Once I was lucky enough to see a donkey in a field of wild “Santa Lucia” flowers on a ride to Turrialba.

Being able to visit my donkey friends without too much hassle is one of the gifts of riding in Costa Rica! Puts a little more love and happiness in my heart.
