Today, I took Calle Chompipe from Desmonte (on Rt 3) down to Orotina. I have been wanting to do this for a while, but did not have the courage to do so until today. On my way, I said to myself, “Just go slow if it is steep, trust your bike, and use your back brake.” But, the road is not a stressful road at all! 🙂
Calle Chompipe is a mix of pavement, artisan concrete, and flagstones.
In the middle is a fancy residential community called Vista Mar with big houses (for sale).

This road has nice views on both sides (left and right) and the inclines are not too steep.

I went straight through Orotina to route 757, another new road for me, then got on 27 to go to Caldera.

At Caldera, I had some ice cream.Â

I will take this trip from Desmonte to Orotina again (or take it the other way around, coming home).

New Ride on the Chompipe:
Today, Thursday, December 20, I took this road UP from Hacienda Vieja. It is only 6 kilometers. Before I knew it, I was at Vista Mar. I’d say it saves time if someone wants to come home the Atenas way without having to go to San Mateo.

I have nothing more to say about this trip. It was quick and easy. Vista Mar feels like an odd place in which to live because it is so isolated.
Enjoy your day!
