I took Route 415 from Turrialba to La Herediana today, coming back on Rt 32. It was a perfect summer day with clear, cool blue skies all day. Spectacular!
Route 230. Santa Teresa. Turrialba volcano smoking.
Rt 415 is a lovely road — quaint, with great views of the volcano and of the Reventazón dam.
Rt 415 is mostly flat as it runs on an upper ridge before it starts going down. There are lots of cute houses all along the way.Little town of Santa Teresita on Route 415
Reventazón River and damnAnimal crossing sign with monkey on it.There is one spot where one can pull over to appreciate the views.
The last part is a bit isolated and wild before nearing La Herediana, which is a nice area.
River below.Cows on the road.
River behind me now.Route 415 then comes out into pasture land and La Herediana. Then you have the volcano behind you. 🙂 Cool.I had to stop for a fruit plate and drink! “My higher education? On the ground.” 🙂 Yeah. Route 32Volcano now on left, heading back on Route 32. View in front of Earth University area.San Isidro de Heredia. Irazú and Turrialba volcanoes behind me now.
I loved riding with the volcano in front of me, on my left, behind me, and all around! But then again, I am easily gratified!
After my long day, I hit a road block in Las Chorreras. Hahaha! Had to go down the mountain and come back up on the Getsemani road. The church in my little home town of San Jose de la Montaña, Barva, Heredia.Home, sweet home!
It was an 8.5 hour day because I stopped to take tons of photos. A gorgeous day!
