Practicing Standing on Gravel. (Puriscal>Parrita and Rt 319>San Pedro)

Today a few guys and I went down to Parrita via Puriscal (Route 239). This road is set to be paved sometime in the future, so we wanted to ride it while it is still gravel.

I sure had fun practicing braking with the back brake and taking curves while standing and riding on gravel. Though my calves will probably be sore tomorrow. I need to buy off-road boots that give better support. I am still not good at changing gears while standing. 😦 Ah well. Progress.

On the way home, two guys took off on route 27. Dave, Don Jose, and I decided to come home via Puriscal, and I was super pleased when they were willing to take Route 319 to San Pedro de Turrubares (LINK to previous post)! More off road! We had fun crossing a bit of the river and taking those fun curves up.

Here is a quick video of our trip, by Dave: Puriscal/Parrita.

Anyhow! It was a great day. Fun, with lovely weather, except a little downpour nearing Puriscal which soaked all of us. But then it cleared in a bit. I am so grateful that I have a few friends that do like to ride off road! And summer is just around the corner. Can’t wait!
