Last week I took three rides during the week, and two on the weekend. Wow. I can’t believe how lucky I am to have the time to do this…in beautiful Costa Rica. So much adventure! I will share some photos of the weekday rides in this post, then write two separate posts for the weekend rides, since they involved new routes.
My first ride was to Guacalillo and Bajamar. I wanted to practice riding Sahara on loose gravel — and the route through La Ceiba is mostly loose, small gravel. I am glad I did because this prepared me for the ride from Tres X to La Suiza on Saturday, which was also loose gravel.
The best part of the trip was going to the end of Bajamar beach (to the right). For some reason, I had never gone all the way to the end. It was a great spot to find.
I then headed over to Guacalillo. Quick, fun morning trip!
That was Tuesday. Then, on Wednesday, my friend Althaf asked me if I wanted to ride with him to Jacó. So I did. And showed Althaf the route up to Bijagual from there. Always fun, with a bit of adrenaline on the switchback curves, and great views at the top!
Then, on Thursday, Feb. 4, I had to go pay a worker in Carrizal de Alajuela, and somehow ended up at Tivivez! Hahaha! I first headed towars Vara Blanca, but turned around when I hit cold mists. Then I took Calle Nueva and was going to head up to Fraijanes, but hit cold mists again, so once again turned around. I stopped for coffee at Cafe Tres Generaciones. Lovely views!
I decided to take the mountain roads to Grecia and then see what happened from there.

Suddenly, I found myself on the Cambronero highway to Esparza, then the Juanilama route to Caldera (for brunch.)
Surprise! I ended up at Tivivez beach. 🙂
I headed home on route 755. A delightful Thursday morning!
Yes, it was a special week, with the three morning rides. And why not?! I could then take care of my errands in the afternoon.
RIDING IN COSTA RICA: LIVE THE MAGIC!

Then, on Saturday and Sunday, February 6th and 7th, I was delighted to take two more rides on new routes which I have wanted to know for quite a while! Yay!! Total Happiness Overload!! (Next two posts.)
